How to Reach

Take a local train to Karjat or Panvel station. From there, take a shared tum-tum (auto) or State Transport (ST) bus heading towards Chowk Phata. From Chowk, you can walk or hire an auto to the base village, Nanivali. If driving, take the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway (NH48) and turn off at Chowk.

FAQs

Is the Irshalagad night trek difficult for beginners?
Yes, it leans towards moderate-difficult. The steep scree and final rock patch require good stamina and balance. Absolute beginners should go with an experienced trek leader.
Do we need ropes for the final pinnacle?
Ropes aren't strictly necessary for the main viewing plateau/Nedhe, but they are absolutely required if you intend to climb the very top of the pinnacle. Most trekkers stop at the Nedhe.
Are there wild animals on the trail at night?
You might encounter snakes, scorpions, and wild boars. Sticking to the trail, trekking in a group, and making normal conversational noise keeps them away.
Where can we park our bikes or cars?
You can park at the base village, Nanivali. The villagers usually charge a nominal fee (around Rs. 30-50) and keep an eye on the vehicles.
Are there food stalls open at night?
No. You must carry your own snacks and water for the night climb. Villagers will prepare breakfast (Poha/Misal) for you in the morning if you inform them before starting.
How long does the night trek take?
It takes about 2 to 2.5 hours to reach the top, depending on your group's pace.
Is it safe for solo female trekkers at night?
While the trail is relatively safe from a crime perspective, night trekking solo is never recommended due to the risk of injury, getting lost, or wildlife. Join a group.
Can we camp at the top?
There is a small plateau below the pinnacle where you can pitch tents, but it gets extremely windy. Most people prefer just resting on mats until sunrise.
What footwear is strictly required?
Trekking shoes with deep lugs (like Action Trekking or Quechua). Running shoes or sneakers will make you slip on the scree patch.
