How to Reach
The most common route is from Bangalore (135 km). Take the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway till Maddur, then take the deviation towards Malavalli, and follow the signs to Shivanasamudra. Having your own car or bike is highly recommended as public transport to the actual falls is sparse.

Can we swim or take a dip in the water?
Absolutely not. The undercurrents are extremely dangerous, the rocks are slippery, and there are crocodiles. The police have barricaded access to the water for a reason.
What's the difference between Gaganachukki and Bharachukki?
They are created by the same river splitting around an island. Gaganachukki is viewed from a high watchtower and has a Dargah nearby. Bharachukki is wider, has stairs to go slightly closer, and is generally considered more scenic.
Are the coracle rides open?
It depends entirely on the water level. During peak monsoon (July-Sept), they are strictly closed. In winter and summer, locals operate them at the base of Bharachukki.
Is it a full-day trip from Bangalore?
The drive takes about 3 hours one way. You'll spend 2 hours at the falls. Most groups combine it with Talakadu or the Somnathpur Temple to make it a full-day itinerary.
Where is the best place to eat?
Eat on the Bangalore-Mysore highway before you take the Malavalli deviation. Places like Kamat Lokaruchi, Maddur Tiffany's, or Swathi Delicacy are great. At the falls, you'll only find churmuri (puffed rice), cucumbers, and packaged snacks.
Is it safe for solo female travelers?
Yes, during the day it is heavily crowded and perfectly safe. However, the village roads lack streetlights, so it's highly recommended to start your return journey before sunset.
Do we need to buy tickets?
There is no entry fee to view the waterfalls, but you will have to pay a nominal parking fee (around INR 30-50) at both Gaganachukki and Bharachukki.
Can I bring my dog?
It's not recommended. The area has aggressive monkeys and stray dogs. Plus, the crowds and loud roaring water might stress your pet out.
