How to Reach

Take an overnight Volvo bus from Delhi or Chandigarh to Bhuntar. From the Bhuntar bus stand, take a local HRTC bus or a private taxi (approx 1.5 to 2 hours) to Kasol. The nearest airport is Kullu-Manali Airport in Bhuntar, but flights are erratic and expensive.

FAQs

Is Kasol safe for solo female travelers?
Yes, generally safe during the day. However, avoid walking alone between villages or on forest trails after dark due to wildlife and the local party crowd.
Do I need a guide for the Kheerganga trek?
No, the trail is well-marked and highly trafficked. However, hiring a guide is recommended in deep winter when the trail is buried in snow.
Are there ATMs in Parvati Valley?
There are a couple of ATMs in Kasol, but they frequently run out of cash. Always withdraw sufficient cash in Bhuntar or Kullu before entering the valley.
Which mobile network works best?
Jio and BSNL work best in Kasol and nearby villages. Airtel and Vi are practically dead once you cross Manikaran.
Can I drive my own car to Tosh?
You can drive up to the Tosh parking lot, but the road from Barshaini to Tosh is notoriously bad, narrow, and often muddy. A high-ground-clearance vehicle is recommended.
Is it legal to consume hash (charas) in Parvati Valley?
No. Despite its reputation, possession and consumption of hashish are illegal in India and can lead to severe jail time. Police checkpoints are common.
How hard is the trek to Grahan?
It's a moderate 4-5 hour trek from Kasol. The first half is a relatively flat forest walk, but the second half is a steep, tiring uphill climb.
Are there medical facilities available?
Basic pharmacies and a small clinic are in Kasol. For any serious medical emergencies, you have to travel back to the hospital in Kullu.
