For Indian groups, there are two main routes. The fastest way is flying from India to Kathmandu, then taking a quick 25-minute domestic flight to Pokhara (approx. ₹4,000 - ₹6,000 one way). The budget-friendly route is taking a train to Gorakhpur (UP), crossing the Sunauli border by road, and taking a local or tourist bus to Pokhara (8-10 hours, approx. ₹800 - ₹1,200). If you're already in Kathmandu, tourist buses leave daily at 7 AM for Pokhara. Be warned: the Kathmandu-Pokhara highway is under massive construction, turning a 200km journey into an exhausting 9-11 hour dusty ride.

Do Indians need a passport or visa for Pokhara?
No visa is required for Indians. However, you must carry either a valid Indian Passport or a Voter ID. Aadhaar cards are not accepted at the border or airport.
Does Indian UPI work in Pokhara?
PhonePe and BHIM are slowly rolling out and work at larger merchants, but do not rely solely on them. Cash is still king, so carry enough INR.
