How to Reach
Take an overnight Volvo bus from Delhi or Chandigarh to Mandi. From Mandi bus stand, catch a local HRTC bus or a shared taxi to Bagi Village (approx 30km, 1.5 hours). From Bagi, you can either trek the 7.5km trail to the lake or hire a local 4x4 taxi to drive you up the bumpy 16km dirt road.

Can we drive all the way to Parashar Lake?
Yes, except during heavy snow months (Jan-Feb) or severe monsoons. However, the 16km road from Bagi village to the lake is a rough, unpaved dirt track. High ground clearance vehicles are highly recommended.
Is the Parashar Lake trek difficult?
It's considered an easy to moderate trek. The trail from Bagi village is about 7.5 km long and quite steep in patches through dense forest. It takes a reasonably fit person 4 to 5 hours to reach the top.
Can we pitch our own tents near the lake?
You cannot pitch tents right next to the lake or the temple due to religious reasons. However, there are designated camping spots on the ridges slightly away from the temple complex where you can pitch your own tent or rent one.
Is alcohol allowed at Parashar Lake?
Strictly NO. Parashar Lake is a highly sacred site for the locals. Consuming alcohol or non-vegetarian food is entirely banned in the vicinity. Locals will fine you, and it's deeply disrespectful.
Will I get mobile network at the top?
Expect zero to very patchy network. BSNL sometimes works in specific spots on the ridge, but Jio, Airtel, and Vi are generally dead. Inform your family before leaving Mandi or Bagi.
Are there any hotels at Parashar Lake?
No commercial hotels exist at the top. Accommodation is limited to basic campsites, a few very basic dorms near the dhabas, a Forest Rest House, and a PWD Guest House (which requires prior booking from Mandi).
What is the floating island in the lake?
It's a circular mass of tall grass, roots, and earth that floats on the surface of the lake. It changes its position throughout the year, which locals attribute to the mood of the deity.
Is it safe for solo female travelers?
Yes, Himachal is generally very safe, and the locals around Parashar are respectful. However, if you are trekking from Bagi, it's better to start early in the day or join a group, as the forest trail can be isolated.
