Legend has it that Kedarkantha was initially chosen as the site for the Kedarnath temple. However, due to interruptions, the temple was constructed at its current location in Kedarnath.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1Arrive at Kotgaon (6,500 feet) by road. Check-in at the guesthouse. Briefing and orientation by the trek leader. Guesthouse in Kotgaon.
Day 2Trek from Kotgaon to Juda Ka Talab. Distance: 5 km | Duration: 4-5 hours. Scenic pine forests, picturesque lake. Camping at Juda Ka Talab.
Day 3Trek to Kedarkantha Base. Distance: 4 km | Duration: 4-5 hours. Panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.Camping at Kedarkantha Base.
Day 4Summit Kedarkantha for a breathtaking sunrise. Return to Kotgaon. Distance: 12 km | Duration: 6-7 hours Guesthouse in Kotgaon.
Day 5Check-out and bid farewell to the mountains.
Day 6Optional Activity: River Rafting on the Ganges (2-3 hours, thrilling rapids).
