How to Reach

Located about 65 km from Bangalore. Take the NH48 (Bangalore-Pune Highway) towards Tumkur. Take the exit near Panditanahalli and follow the rural road for about 2 km to reach the base. It is best reached by personal car or motorcycle.

Is there an entry fee for Mandaragiri Hill?

No, entry to both the hill and the Jain temple at the base is completely free. You only pay a nominal parking fee (around INR 20-30).

How many steps are there to the top?

There are roughly 430 to 450 steps carved directly into the rock. It takes about 15-25 minutes to climb depending on your fitness level.

Can we take our pets to Mandaragiri?

Pets are technically allowed on the hill climb, but be extremely careful of the local monkey troops which can get aggressive towards dogs.

Is it safe for solo female travelers?

Yes, especially on weekends mornings when there is a decent crowd of bikers and trekkers. However, avoid staying back at Mydala Kere lake alone after sunset.

What are the timings for the Pinchi (peacock feather) temple?

The Guru Mandir (temple) is usually open from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, and again from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

Are there food stalls available?

There are very basic local stalls selling water and packaged snacks at the base, but no proper restaurants. It's best to eat at the highway dhabas on NH48.

Can we camp overnight at the top?

No, overnight camping on the hill or near the lake is strictly prohibited by local authorities.

How do we find Mydala Kere lake?

Face the hill, and take the mud path going to the right side of the base. It's a flat, 10-minute walk to reach the lake.
