FAQs
Is a weekend enough for Mount Abu?
Absolutely. Two nights and three days are perfect to see the temples, hike Toad Rock, chill at Nakki Lake, and head back without getting bored.
Is alcohol allowed in Mount Abu?
Yes. Unlike neighboring Gujarat, Rajasthan is not a dry state. Alcohol is widely available and cheap, which is exactly why it's a massive weekend party hub.
Do Uber or Ola work there?
No. You are completely at the mercy of the local taxi union, which is notoriously overpriced. Renting a scooty (around INR 300-500/day) is the smartest thing you can do.
How strict is the dress code at Dilwara Temples?
Very strict. No shorts, no sleeveless tops, and no ripped jeans. Both men and women need to have their shoulders and legs covered. They will turn you away at the gate.
Is it safe for a group of female travelers?
Yes, it's quite safe. The locals are used to tourists. Just avoid wandering into the forested areas or unlit viewpoints late at night, mostly because of wildlife (sloth bears and leopards) and drunk tourists.
Does it actually snow in Mount Abu?
No. The temperature can drop to 0°C or slightly below in January, causing frost on the grass and car windshields, but actual snowfall does not happen.
Are there wild animals around?
Yes. Mount Abu is a wildlife sanctuary. Sloth bears are frequently spotted near trash dumps at night, and leopards roam the deeper forests. Don't go trekking at night.
Is boating at Nakki Lake worth it?
It's a bit cliché and the water isn't exactly pristine, but getting a pedal boat with friends around sunset is a classic Mount Abu rite of passage. Just do it.
