How to Reach
The nearest airport is Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar (BBI), about 60 km (1.5 hours) away. You can take a pre-paid taxi, Uber, or an AC MoBus from the airport to Puri. Puri has its own major railway station (PURI) with direct trains from Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai. Excellent AC bus services also connect Puri to Kolkata and neighboring states.

No, there is a strict rule that only Hindus can enter the temple premises. Non-Hindus and foreigners can view the temple from the roof of the nearby Raghunandan Library.
How do I avoid getting scammed by Pandas (priests)?
Do not engage if they approach you aggressively. You are not obligated to pay them anything unless you specifically hire one for a puja. If you want to donate, put the money directly into the official temple 'Hundi' (donation boxes).
Is the beach in Puri safe for swimming?
The main Puri beach has strong, dangerous undercurrents. It is highly advised to only swim in designated areas where lifeguards are present, or visit the Golden Beach which is safer and cleaner.
What is the Mahaprasad and how do I get it?
Mahaprasad is the sacred food offered to Lord Jagannath, cooked in earthen pots. You can buy it at the Ananda Bazaar inside the temple complex. Best time to go is between 1 PM and 2 PM. Bring cash.
Can we drink alcohol in Puri?
Puri is a holy city, so alcohol is strictly banned near the temple and the main bathing ghats. However, there are licensed bars and liquor shops on VIP Road and CT Road. Do not drink publicly on the beach.
