How to Reach

The most practical way is flying into Veer Savarkar International Airport (IXZ) in Port Blair from major hubs like Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, or Bangalore. Passenger ships from Chennai, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam take 3-4 days and are prone to sea-sickness; they are not recommended for tourists on a standard 1-week trip.

Travel Tips
1Always book your return flight a day AFTER you arrive back in Port Blair from the islands. Do not risk a same-day ferry-to-flight connection.
2Private ferries like Makruzz and Green Ocean are infinitely more reliable and comfortable than government ferries. Book them online way in advance.
3Rent a two-wheeler in Havelock and Neil. It's the cheapest and most liberating way to explore. Autos are notoriously expensive.
4Carry enough cash. ATMs in Havelock and Neil frequently run out of cash or go offline due to network issues.
5Pack a dry bag. Between getting on and off speedboats and unexpected rain, your electronics will thank you.

Food & DiningVeg Friendly

Order your food well in advance. Island kitchens operate on 'island time' and meals can take up to an hour to arrive. Restaurants close early, so plan to eat dinner by 8:30 PM.

FAQs

Do Indians need a passport or visa to visit Andaman?
No. Andaman and Nicobar is an Indian Union Territory. You just need a valid Govt ID (Aadhar, Voter ID, Driving License). Passports are only required for foreign nationals.
Is Andaman better than Goa?
They are completely different. Go to Goa for nightlife, cheap booze, and parties. Go to Andaman for pristine blue waters, world-class scuba diving, and a quiet, nature-focused digital detox.
How bad is the internet really?
It's getting better with the undersea cable, but still spotty. Airtel and BSNL work best. Jio is functional in Port Blair but struggles in Havelock and Neil. Don't plan on doing heavy Zoom calls.
Can we carry alcohol from Port Blair to Havelock?
No. Baggage is scanned at the ferry terminals, and carrying alcohol between islands is strictly prohibited. You will have to buy it at the local ANIIDCO wine shops on the respective islands.
Is vegetarian food easily available?
Yes, but it's more expensive than the mainland because most vegetables are shipped in. You'll find plenty of North Indian and South Indian veg thalis, but don't expect a massive variety.
Do I need to know swimming to do scuba diving?
No! For beginner 'Discover Scuba Diving' (DSD) programs, you don't need to know how to swim. An instructor holds onto your tank and guides you the entire time.
Are there sharks or crocodiles?
There are saltwater crocodiles in certain restricted areas (like parts of South Andaman). Always swim in designated, netted safe zones. Shark attacks are practically unheard of here; the reef sharks you might see while diving are harmless.
What happens if my ferry from Havelock gets cancelled and I miss my flight?
You lose your flight money. This is why you must ALWAYS schedule your last night in Port Blair, not Havelock or Neil. Weather is unpredictable.

Group Trips to Andaman and Nicobar

Planning a group trip to Andaman and Nicobar Islands is all about trading mainland chaos for tropical serenity. As India's premier destination for pristine beaches and marine adventures, Andaman group tours offer an unmatched blend of history, nature, and thrill. Whether you are looking at budget-friendly packages starting from ₹11,354 or luxury beach retreats, traveling with friends here requires a bit of logistical planning—especially when it comes to private ferries between Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil Island. Dive into the crystal-clear waters for world-class scuba diving, walk through the historic corridors of Cellular Jail, or simply watch the sunset at Radhanagar Beach. Because internet connectivity is famously spotty, an Andaman group trip naturally forces your crew into a much-needed digital detox, making you actually talk to each other. With the best weather hitting between October and May, now is the perfect time to lock in your Andaman and Nicobar group travel itinerary. Just remember to book your ferries early, carry enough cash, and leave your Goa party expectations at home—this archipelago is all about raw, unfiltered island beauty.
